The Department of Education has confirmed details for the Home-Based Summer Programme 2026 (formerly known as July Provision).
This programme provides grant funding for parents/guardians of eligible post-primary students with complex special educational needs to hire a private tutor or SNA.
Eligibility for Post-Primary Students:
• Students enrolled in a special class or special school
• Students in mainstream classes who are at the highest level of the Continuum of Support (School Support Plus)
Key Details:
• Maximum of *10 hours per week* for up to 4 weeks
• The online sanctioning *portal closes on Friday, 15 May 2026*
• Parents/guardians are responsible for sourcing their own tutor or SNA
• Available staff can be viewed on the Education Posts Noticeboard
How to Apply:
Verify your child’s eligibility with the school office
The school will then submit your details via the Online Sanctioning Portal
Once sanctioned, you will receive a confirmation email from the Department to begin the programme
