The Intermediate School Killorglin is fully committed to safeguarding the welfare of all students entrusted to its care. The school has adopted and implements in full the Child Protection Procedures for Primary and Post-Primary Schools (revised 2023) and complies with the requirements of the Children First Act 2015, Children First: National Guidance for the Protection and Welfare of Children (2017) and all relevant Department of Educationrequirements.

The Manager has formally adopted a Child Safeguarding Statement and accompanying Risk Assessment, as required under the Children First Act 2015. These documents outline the measures in place to safeguard students from harm and to minimise identified child protection risks within the school environment.
The Child Safeguarding Statement and Risk Assessment are reviewed annually by the Manager and are available to view on the school website. A copy is also available on request from the school office. Any member of the school community who has a child protection or welfare concern is encouraged to contact a member of staff, the school’s Designated Liaison Person (DLP), Mr. O’Dwyer, or, in his absence, the Deputy Designated Liaison Person (DDLP), Mr. Conway.
Concerns may also be reported directly to Tusla, the Child and Family Agency, in accordance with Children First procedures.
