Our TYs have had an action packed month of May! Early in the month they had their four Class Gaisce Trips which involved Kayaking from one end of Caragh Lake to the other, camping in Lickeen and hiking through The Windy Gap to Glenbeight the following day. All students negotiated the trip safely and had great fun along the way! Our thanks to the teachers who participated in the trips – without them giving so generously of their time the Gaisce Trips are not possible.
Their next activity was climbing Corrán Tuathail which was a fantastic day out and our thanks to Mr Conway for once again leading the charge
The following week they were treated to a breakfast in The Bianconi to mark the end of their Gaisce Bronze Medal Journey
Later in the same week we invited the local Primary Schools in for our annual Fun Gaelic Football blitzed which was coordinated very successfully by Orla Naughton and Róisín Lawson – well done on a fantastic event everyone!
The following week saw the final trip of the year to Ballyhass Adventure Centre where our TYs took part in activities such as Zip-Lining (across a lake no less!) archery, rock-climbing and also splashed around in the amazing Aqua Park on site. It was the final trip of the year and a lovely way to round it off!
Yesterday was D-Day for the TY Portfolios, the creativity and hard work gone into them very impressive and a credit to all – it will a lovely keepsake to look back on in years to come and the whole portfolio process remind students of all that they have experienced and learned throughout their Transition Year Programme in the ISK.
Our TY Graduation took place yesterday evening and was a lovely relaxed evening of reflection, celebration and fun – congratulations to our students and thanks to all the parents who came along to support them. Our thanks also to the staff that made it possible and put in huge work behind the scenes – in particular Ms Emma Kelliher who orchestrated proceedings brilliantly. Congratulations also to our TY Student of the Year Eddie O’ Sullivan.
Well done to all of our TYs on a fantastic year and thanks to all of our staff who contributed in any way to another successful year!
