In 1988, the ISK moved to a new site on the Iveragh Road from Market Street. This new building has dramatically increased in size since then to cater for the growing student population. The school is proud of the many facilities we have to offer our students. As well as having state of the art classrooms – each with an Interactive Whiteboard – we have purpose built; 4 Science Labs, 2 Home Economics Rooms, 1 Computer Laboratory, 1 Technical Graphics Room, 1 Construction Studies Room, 1 Language Laboratory. Each of these rooms have up to date equipment for the teaching of these subjects. In addition there is a recently built Library which, as well as books & periodicals, contains many computers for student use.
The school has a strong sporting tradition & there are two Astro Turf pitches on the site, a Gym, three tennis courts and a grass pitch.
The focal point of the school is the “Well” where; Assemblies, Concerts, Public Speaking Competitions, Masses, Information Evenings etc; are held. As well as having an Art Room, a Stage & a Music Room, there is a Grand Piano which is used by students to encourage those with a creative leaning.
The school is constantly striving to maintain & improve its facilities. At present a new Science wing is being built and we expect that it will be completed shortly.
